**Notice** This is a petition asking for your signature of support. THIS IS NOT FOR DONATIONS. Any money given will go to change.org website and not to the efforts to save this house.

The Middle Georgia Preservation Alliance has researched the property recently acquired by GMC Foundation: 341 S Wayne Street.

The historical significance of the Zachariah Lamar House is so important and integral to the very founding of Milledgeville that the original house structure should be saved in place and be on the National Register of Historic Places. Archaeological and historic preservation projects should be done on the property and house now that it is out of the previous slumlord's ownership.

The Lamar House could be the 1st or 2nd oldest house in the town. GMC Foundation could really shine as a partner in preserving the historic district structures by restoring it. Plenty of grants are available. The Foundation paid $240,000 for a little more than 0.3 acre lot with the knowledge that the historic house comes with it. And The Foundation should be made to follow the rules and regulations of the Milledgeville Historic Preservation Commission, the Milledgeville Historic District, and the broader National Register Historic District.

GMC has been a part of the historic fabric of Milledgeville for more than a century. If GMC continues to acquire historic property without preserving the actual history there... Milledgeville's history will eventually be whittled away to nothing.
