Save Measure O

The Issue

PUSD’s school board trustees advertised Measure O bond as necessary for …

• Improving access to school facilities for students with disabilities

• Improving energy conservation with installation of district-owned solar panels and energy-efficient windows …

• Replacing aging roofs and plumbing systems …

• Replacing heating,ventilation and air-conditioning systems

• Installing new electrical systems to safely accommodate new technology …

• Improving student safety and campus security, emergency communications systems, smoke detectors, fire alarms and sprinklers

Now that Measure O has passed, this board is prioritizing 3 “exemplary” projects at schools which had previous bonds address the needs above. Board members are aware that if the current plans go forward, Measure O funds will be depleted before other schools have URGENT health and safety, and state mandated upgrades.

We demand that PUSD prioritize improvements outlined above at locations including Don Benito, San Rafael, and Marshall which are in a state of neglect due to lack of equitable funding from previous bonds.

The board already commissioned numerous professional objective assessments by professional consultants between Measure O’s planning and the present date. The board must focus on those reports and on delivering compliance with state mandates and health and safety standards equitably to determine what must be prioritized. PUSD must keep promises made to residents and voters when Measure O was passed.
