Well to update you all on the program on 2nd October it went really well. Around 250 people from all age groups participated with loads of paintings etc. The perplexing part is the future of our very own pond is looks bleak. Abhiyakti is thinking about going to SC etc. The locals thou seems to understand the importance of water security and the impact of closing this pond( flooding) in varying degree but ACTION is missing.

We human being has become more and more unconcerned about nature and or only present in media to do something for nature. There are few, who are picking up weight for others to do good for the environment and conserve it for the coming generation but overall belongingness towards nature is lost. Connect towards each other, sense of community, is becoming less prominent.

 I Ulka Shukla have been in the environmental field since 1995 onwards and have seen many such good causes getting lost for lack of time, money and lack of support. I started my journey being a key member of people for animal, than growing my own food and trained in Masters of environmental studies ..so in short seen this happening personally from a few decades now, not only in Indian towns like Nashik, Thane, Pune, Hyderabad, and Navi Mumbai but also in USA California.

In my view and experience, here is the solution to bring people together face to face for the transaction but using neuroscience learning theories nudge thought of giving back to nature. This is how I started GREW GreenWorld Movement around 9 months back. A slow movement,

In grew, we share useable things at a "share event" and reciever of the things has to # pledge to do something for nature. Till now we have started 3 locations where the monthly events are happening and there are some of POP-up events. We have recycled close to 1500 plus items to date and 180 plus pledges taken.

Discussions happening in these events on how to reuse waste, what is enough for us? Are we really developing? What is health and happiness? How can we lead more meaningful happy lives? Friendship is built in this event as we are accepting of items of others so accepting others. Meeting people in the vicinity help build a connection and a step towards build community. Events are simple 2-3 hours affair:  Everyone comes with useable things ( books, clothes, accessories, artifacts, plants, etc.)that they want to share, we have an introduction, share things, discuss (on any important matter based on crowd what is felt appropriate) and share how we are going to give back to the environment (nothing is FREE in this world) against things we are receiving from fellow grew participant other. 
Whatever items are not taken by anyone, to be taken back by the owner of the item. We end the event with happy connections.

Environmental consciousness is long term "value" that takes deeper efforts to build let's do this for ourselves and generations to come.
