For at least five years, we, the residents of Sarasota County, have tirelessly attended meeting after meeting, voicing our opposition to the ongoing destructive development of the Manasota Beach area and South County Sarasota.

Despite our loud and clear protestations, we find ourselves continuously silenced by county officials, who prioritize their own hidden agendas over their responsibilities as elected representatives. These officials, entrusted to act in the best interest of the community, have been bought off by a corrupt cabal of developers, directly opposing their sworn duties to enact the will of the residents. 

The latest issue is the cut through of Manasota Beach Rd and Keyway Ave from the newly developed Wellen Park - directly to Manasota beach bringing an estimated 25,000 - 35,000 VEHICLES A DAY!

This will destroy the environment of Manasota Key permanently!

We are witnessing an egregious misuse of power, where property rights are being trampled upon and our precious natural resources and lands are being annihilated, all for the benefit of greedy developers. This unchecked development is not only a threat to our cherished environment but also a betrayal of public trust and a direct violation of the rights and wishes of the people they are meant to serve.

The development plans for Manasota Key are not just a local issue but a blatant example of how greed and corruption are devastating communities across Florida. This beautiful coastal area, with its delicate ecosystems and pristine beaches, is an irreplaceable part of our community’s identity and a treasured asset to future generations.

We propose IMMEDIATE ACTION to HALT the ongoing destructive development and demand the Governor immediately and investigate and correct the actions of over-reach of the corrupted officials and developers. A thorough investigation into this corrupt relationship is essential to restore the integrity of our local government. It's imperative that our leaders reprioritize community welfare over personal gains and recognize the true harm of this reckless and unwanted expansion.
