I built Maggie's Ramp to provide a unique and safe space for skaters of all levels right here in Austin, Texas. Over the past 10 years, it has become not just a place to skate, but a community hub—a fixture where families, kids, parents, and thrill-seekers can come together, have fun, and create lasting memories.

Unfortunately, a complaint about a 'backyard structure' has put Maggie's Ramp at risk. The City of Austin now requires me to secure a permit to continue operating this beloved community asset. This vert ramp is the only one in Austin proper, and its importance extends beyond just the immediate neighborhood. It serves skaters, BMXers, and roller skaters from Central Texas and beyond, offering them a safe and inclusive environment to pursue their passions.

Maggie’s Ramp has long been a beacon of support and camaraderie within the Austin skating community. It has fostered an environment where skaters, regardless of age or skill level, can practice, learn, and connect. Removing it would not only strip away a platform for recreation but also dismantle a space essential for community building and personal development.

The City of Austin needs to understand the vital role Maggie’s Ramp plays in enriching our community. While obtaining the permit is a necessary step, showing widespread community support is crucial in swaying the decision in favor of keeping Maggie's Ramp.
