Save London bus route 24

Save London bus route 24
Why this petition matters

On June 1st 2022, Transport for London announced their intention to restructure London's inner city bus network, including the most iconic route in London - the 24.
The 24 has been on the roads of the capital since King George V was on the throne. Pre-pandemic, the route was carrying over 15,000 people every DAY on its route between Hampstead Heath and Pimlico. It's as much a part of the tapestry of London as any listed building or other landmark in town. This is part of the reason we call on TfL to reverse their decision to withdraw the route.
Also the impact of this change will be huge of course. School students, mothers of young children, disabled people, elderly people, huge numbers of tourists and shift workers will be all be affected by the changes.
TfL made the case that these bus cuts are actually a demand from the government in order to secure huge funding it requires as a result of the pandemic and sadly the 24 faces the axe. While some of the proposed changes to other routes make some sense with a view to making the required 4% savings on surface transport spending, we feel the withdrawal of the route 24 falls outside of this of this case and should be spared.
