How can you help?

  1. Continue to share the petition! Holiday mailing lists, Facebook groups, group chats, local small businesses. Our goal is 5,000 signatures. 

What has the save LMUCC advocacy movement accomplished? 

  1. A Loyolan article was published about the issue.
  2. At the monthly meeting, February 26th, of LMU’s Neighborhood Advisory Committee, parents and friends of LMUCC urged the advisory committee to protect the center.
  3. A petition was started on change.org, which now has over 1400 signatures.
  4. A survey was distributed to faculty, staff, and community members by the benefits subcommittee. Results indicated that all three groups overwhelmingly endorse LMUCC and its presence on campus. 
  5. Faculty emailed the Dean of each college, asking that the Deans advocate for LMUCC to the Provost.
  6. Faculty emailed the Faculty Senate to request LMUCC be added to the senate agenda.
  7. Faculty, represented by the Faculty Senate, passed a motion endorsing the continued presence of LMUCC on campus, and exploration of a university subsidy for LMUCC to increase accessibility and affordability.
  8. Community members emailed LMU senior leadership, and all levels of administration advocating for the center.
  9. Faculty and community advocated to elected officials, who contacted the Provost’s and President’s offices.
  10. 37 faculty wrote a letter to the religious on the LMU Board of Trustees asking for mission-centered advocacy for LMUCC. 

How has LMU responded?

  1. An LMU This Week press release was distributed on January 23rd.
  2. The same press release was MODIFIED on February 24th, without any indication that substantive changes were made.
