What has the save LMUCC advocacy movement accomplished?
- A Loyolan article was published about the issue.
- At the monthly meeting, February 26th, of LMU’s Neighborhood Advisory Committee, parents and friends of LMUCC urged the advisory committee to protect the center.
- A petition was started on change.org, which now has over 1400 signatures.
- A survey was distributed to faculty, staff, and community members by the benefits subcommittee. Results indicated that all three groups overwhelmingly endorse LMUCC and its presence on campus.
- Faculty emailed the Dean of each college, asking that the Deans advocate for LMUCC to the Provost.
- Faculty emailed the Faculty Senate to request LMUCC be added to the senate agenda.
- Faculty, represented by the Faculty Senate, passed a motion endorsing the continued presence of LMUCC on campus, and exploration of a university subsidy for LMUCC to increase accessibility and affordability.
- Community members emailed LMU senior leadership, and all levels of administration advocating for the center.
- Faculty and community advocated to elected officials, who contacted the Provost’s and President’s offices.
- 37 faculty wrote a letter to the religious on the LMU Board of Trustees asking for mission-centered advocacy for LMUCC.
How has LMU responded?
- An LMU This Week press release was distributed on January 23rd.
- The same press release was MODIFIED on February 24th, without any indication that substantive changes were made.
