Save lives by putting blue lights on tow trucks.

The Issue

An estimated 1,280 tow truck drivers are injured each year while working.

Even with the hi-vis uniforms, amber flashing lights, every six days a tow operator dies, majority of the time assisting a stranded motorist.

According to traffic-safety research, color combinations draw more attention than lights of just one colour. Blue and amber is the most visible combo in low-light conditions and bad weather, which is often when tow operators are doing their most dangerous work.

Oregon has a Slow Down Move Over law but the law isn't well known and rarely enforced.

Blocker units are not always feasible for many reason: staffing shortages with the department of transportation, time constraints, and location.

Blue lights can be seen for miles and alerts other drivers from a fair distance that extra precautions (including slowing down and moving over an extra lane) need to be taken.

Limit the use of blue lights to emergency situations that require extra visibility, time, and caution and we can save countless lives.
