Hello

Despite the enduring support and generosity of so many of you, the future of Liverpool Street Station as one of the nation’s great historic railway termini remains in the balance.

It is reported that the City of London Planning Committee is set to decide on the scheme in the coming weeks. We call on anyone who has not already done so to submit an objection on the City of London’s planning portal. Our easy guide to writing an objection is here.

Work done over the course of the last year has demonstrated the staggering financial, environmental and heritage burden Network Rail's proposed station remodelling would represent. Read more here.

Despite this, Network Rail has forged on - arguing, as it has all along - that its scheme is the only way to deliver necessary upgrades to the station.

In recent months, John McAslan has demonstrated that Network Rail’s justification is baseless, and that there are alternative approaches that would:

  1. Cost significantly less
  2. Cause years’ less disruption to station users
  3. Would not entail demolition of a large section of the station building
  4. Would not entail the construction of a 20-storey office block through and on top of the station

A comprehensive, public and fully costed options appraisal – which we have been calling for throughout this process – should be the starting point of a complete reset of this process.

But that will only be likely if Network Rail's scheme is refused consent by the City of London Planning Committee. We ask you to join the thousands who have already opposed the needlessly damaging scheme by uploading an objection on the planning portal now. You can use our guide to writing an objection, available here

If you have already objected, you can also continue to like and share our posts on social media – you will find the Victorian Society on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads, BlueSky and X. You will also find other LISSCA committee members posting on their own social media. #SaveLiverpoolStreetStation

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we have succeeded in raising just over £40,000 to support the campaign. However, we will need further donations to support what could be a long and costly legal battle. We therefore continue to welcome any donations anyone can make. Our fundraiser is on JustGiving here.

Thank you for your continued support to Save Liverpool Street Station.
