The Salty Dog Hotel, a beloved local venue in the heart of Kingston Beach, is under threat — with calls to shut down its live music.

After investing millions to restore and revitalise this iconic venue, Adriano Mignanelli and the Salty Dog team have created what is now one of Greater Hobart’s premier destinations. Just months after reopening and bringing the venue back to life, a small but vocal group is pushing to end live music altogether.

The Salty Dog is more than just a pub — it’s a cornerstone of the local community. It draws visitors from across Tasmania, supports dozens of local jobs, and provides one of the few regular live music stages in the region. On any given night, it’s full of life, energy, and people enjoying what makes our community special.

The petition currently before council threatens not only live music at the venue, but also opportunities for local musicians and the future of this revitalised community space.
