The Cage has been part of Reigate’s live music story for more than 20 years. It has welcomed performers, audiences, families, friends and community groups, providing a stage for local talent and a place where countless memories have been made.

The venue has recently received a Noise Abatement Notice from the local council. As a result, scheduled live entertainment has already been cancelled, and the future of live music at the venue is uncertain.

We recognise that residents are entitled to reasonable peace and that concerns about noise must be taken seriously. This petition is not directed at any individual, and it does not ask for residents’ concerns to be ignored. It asks for a constructive, proportionate and evidence-based solution.

We call on Reigate & Banstead Borough Council and all relevant parties to work collaboratively with The Cage to identify practical measures that protect residential amenity while allowing this long-established venue to continue hosting live music responsibly.

Live music venues do more than provide entertainment. They support performers, sound engineers, hospitality workers, suppliers, nearby businesses and the wider evening economy. They give emerging artists a place to begin and communities a place to come together.
