SAVE LITEIN HIGH SCHOOL KCSE CANDIDATES PETITION

The Issue

Background
Following the unfortunate recent strike and subsequent destruction of school property in Litein High School-Kericho, the Board of Management (BOM) and the school administration have imposed a compensation levy on parents, including those whose children were not directly involved in the incident. This has caused widespread distress, particularly as our sons are preparing to sit for the forthcoming Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
The Board of Management (BOM) and school administration have ignored the petition for roundtable discussions with all stakeholders involved through our PTA Representatives to form a special purpose committee to oversight the Assessment and Evaluation.
While we recognize the importance of restoring the school’s infrastructure and maintaining accountability, the current process has raised concerns regarding transparency, fairness, and due process. Moreover, we believe this allocation is wrongful, arbitrary, and lacks transparency. The BOM is holding our children's participation in the national examinations at ransom by demanding payment of these contested amounts by 6th October as mandatory for their  readmission framework.
