Have you witnessed, been involved, or been affected by wrong way drivers on our freeways? If you say No to all 3, then you may be mistaking. If you have heard about a wrong way driver killing someone on our freeways, you have been affected. Someone In our community has died. That doesn’t just affect those close to that person but to the whole community. This problem keeps happening! And it is time to make a change! There is no reason our city, state, nation… has not yet came up with a better plan to prevent wrong way drivers, than a sign that says “wrong way.” Oh! That sign will stop those who purposely wants to drive the wrong way, to hurt themselves and possibly others! That sign will not stop someone drunk or impaired from continuing their path, thinking it’s the correct way at 3 am after a long night of partying! They barely can see a few feet in front of them, let alone read a sign on the side of the road that explains they are going the wrong way! Let’s make a real change! We as a community deserve it! To keep all of our loved ones and community members safe!

If things do not change one day (I pray not) you reading this could be personally impacted from a wrong way driver on our freeways! The more it happens, the more likely you or someone close to you will have this happen! If we continue just to let these signs be the only “fix” to the problem, nothing will change and more and more life’s will be lost! What would you do, if you see a car coming at you at 70-100 mph… head on… will you have time to swerve? To react? What if you swerve the same way the other car swerves? Will you make the right 50/50 choice? I pray you never have this split decision to make, but why not prevent it before it could ever happen? 

How? The very simple way to prevent this is to make it harder for those that want to go the wrong way, or to impaired to pay attention.. and again, you may be asking… how? Do you know those spikes at a parking garage? Or at other locations that they don’t want you going the wrong way? They make it so cars going the correct way, can drive over them safely… but those trying to go the wrong way, it punctures the tires and pops them or makes them lose air quickly. This will make it harder for those going on the freeway the wrong way to have control at high speeds… will it prevent those who really really want to get on the freeway the wrong way… no. But! It will make it so now instead of having someone coming at you, at 70-100 mph… now they are only going 30-50 mph and you can have more time to react.. and those who are not used to driving with blown tires, most people will have such a hard time keeping their car straight… that they probably won’t make it even to that point. This may not stop the problem 100% but anything is better than what we have going on now… even if it prevents 50% or more… that is someone’s loved one making it home that day/night… that wouldn’t be if it stays the same way it is now…. A sign… 

So let’s make a sign do a real change by signing this petition that will show our city, state, and nation (right now city) that enough is enough and this sign is the real true difference maker over that metal sign on the side of the exits. We want something more to help this problem. As of now, when I am typing this out, there just was a wrong driver on the 215 just after jones Blvd going west bound… that a black suv was going over 100 mph (from sources who witnessed - not yet determined by police) who went head on with an innocent driver and killed theirselves and that innocent driver. It happened only hours ago from the time I am typing this, so more information I’m sure will be coming in next few days. But once again, this may not have been prevented but the outcome could have been a lot better for everyone involved if there was more than just a sign to help slow down or stop those who have no care in their lives any more. Make a difference and sign this petition! Let’s get these spikes on every exit in Las Vegas!
