University of Minnesota Regents:
Please do not sell the Les Bolstad Golf Course  

This petition reflects the views of an alliance for the preservation of Les Bolstad Golf Course.

A grassroots movement and team of Concerned Citizens of St. Anthony Park and Falcon Heights residents, High School and College Coaches and Student/Athletes, University of Minnesota faculty and staff, environmentalists, Recreational Golfers, Runners, and Nordic Skiers, and more.

Our group is opposed to any development of the land that the University of Minnesota has been a worthy steward of since 1916. Development is overwhelmingly unwanted by the community for numerous reasons, including the environmental impact and unforeseen consequences for each of the following: biodiversity--flora and fauna, ecosystems, air quality, and surrounding watershed, and climate change. 

A sale and planned development would reverse over a century of opportunities for neighbors and others to have access to green space to engage in physical activity (PA) and seek connectedness to nature (CTN) and the subsequent health benefits of outdoor exercise. In addition to golf, the course is home to Nordic skiing and cross-country running, including serving as the current host site for the MSHSL state meet and the Roy Griak Invitational.

By signing this petition, you are in support of the University of Minnesota maintaining ownership and with no development of the land while prioritizing environmental stewardship and continued availability for athletic and recreational purposes for generations to come.
