🔔 Petition Update: Why Our Coaches Were Terminated — and Why We’re Still Fighting

Coaches Tim Ellenberger and Andy Chappell were recently fired from Ledford High School, and Coach Carter Ellenberger, assistant coach at Central Davidson, was indefinitely suspended. Many of you have asked: Why?

Here’s what we know:

✔️ Ledford coaches allowed a few student-athletes from another Davidson County high school to ride the bus with their team to a wrestling camp.

This was done in good faith to keep students safe—rather than having teenagers drive themselves over three hours to Brevard. Parents were aware. The coaches did not know this violated policy, and there was no malicious intent.

✔️ The camp took place on a teacher workday.

The Ledford coaches submitted the camp dates in advance and received approval from the school board to attend. Despite this, the camp has been cited as a reason for termination.

These coaches have mentored our children with integrity, heart, and commitment. They’ve made a lasting impact, not just in competition, but in shaping character and community.

We believe these terminations are unjust, and we are asking for fairness and reinstatement.
