Newcastle United Football Club has reportedly paid more than £20million to buy Leazes Terrace - a Grade I-listed Georgian housing crescent east of St James Park.

These historic listed buildings have previously prevented stadium expansion plans from going ahead.

The purchase is likely to be a strategic move, which gives the club more options in terms of expanding the existing stadium.
