Save L8 Caribbean Centre (Liverpool African Caribbean Centre)

The Issue

We are shocked, angry and extremely saddened to have to respond to the report released by Liverpool City Council on 21st February.
It was reported in the Liverpool Echo and Liverpool Express, that the African Caribbean Centre is now under threat, and the Black community displaced once again.
We raised a complaint on the 11th February to Liverpool City Council and this has now been reported as community consultation.
Following a letter from the leader of Liverpool City Council on the 14th February, that contained an apology, the board then received an email with a proposal on 18th February.
The email letter informed the board that the site, of the African Caribbean Centre, is the only recommendation, proposed to the Cabinet for Eden Girls School.
Our community has been broad sided due to the lack of democratic process.
Neither the African Caribbean centre board nor the community has been consulted.  This is false information released by Liverpool City Council into the media.
An emergency board meeting was called today, and the board will be attending the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday 25th at 5pm to strongly oppose the plans.

The board is opposing this recommendation and needs the whole community’s support.

Come to the African Caribbean Centre on Monday 24th between 5pm and 7pm to sign the petition to save our heritage space, or sign online
