AMPOL'S Mod 7 Fact Sheet, what they forgot to tell you… Submissions close THIS FRIDAY 1ST AUGUST!
Dear All,
Please be reminded that submissions close 5pm (AEST) this Friday 1st August 2025 to say 'NO' to AMPOL'S MOD7 on the NSW Major Projects Website.
Yesterday AMPOL distributed a 'MOD7 Application Fact Sheet' via an email distribution list which, quite simply omitted critical information in assisting the community in making an informed decision about the modification changes.
Members of the community are calling for this document to be revoked and a formal apology issued as it neglects to mention the extensive list of chemicals which will be 'capped' and the extensive increase of water flow into 'Towra Point Nature Reserve' which is a RAMSAR listed 'Wetlands of International Importance'.
Chemicals:
- Asbestos (the only chemical listed in AMPOL's fact sheet)
- Petroleum hydrocarbons comprising
- Total recoverable hydrocarbons (TRH)
- Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes and
- naphthalene (BTEXN)
- PFAS
- Heavy metals (As, Ni, Cu, Zn, Pb, Hg, Cd, Cr)
- Organochlorine and Organophosphorus (OCP and OPP) Pesticides
- Phenols
- Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs)
- Volatile Organic Contaminants (VOCs) and Semi Volatile Organic Contaminants (SVOCs)

'Towra Point Nature Reserve' supports 3 threatened species:
Grey-headed flying-fox
Magenta Lilly Pilly
Green and Golden Bell Frog
To allow this modification to be approved would be detrimental to the community, environment and cultural heritage of the Kurnell peninsula.
