AMPOL'S MOD 7 - Infrastructure consolidation and remediation - Say NO!

The Kurnell peninsula needs you to act now!
The Kurnell peninsula currently has 4 State Significant Developments. Kurnell hasn't seen this must change since the 1950's when The Australian Oil Refinery commenced construction. There seems to be little respect for 'The Meeting Place of Two Cultures' or 'Captain Cooks Landing place' as well as our National Park and Internationally protected RAMSAR site.

In a nutshell it means AMPOL will 'cap' (cover over) the list of following list (but not limited to) of chemicals:
- Asbestos
- Petroleum hydrocarbons comprising
- Total recoverable hydrocarbons (TRH)
- Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes and
- naphthalene (BTEXN)
- PFAS
- Heavy metals (As, Ni, Cu, Zn, Pb, Hg, Cd, Cr)
- Arsenic (As)
- Nickel (Ni)
- Copper (Cu)
- Zinc (Zn)
- Lead (Pb)
- Mercury (Hg)
- Cadmium (Cd)
- Chromium (Cr)
- Organochlorine and Organophosphorus (OCP and
- OPP) Pesticides
- Phenols
- Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs)
- Volatile Organic Contaminants (VOCs) and Semi Volatile Organic Contaminants (SVOCs)
You can read more about the soil & ground water contamination on the NSW Major Projects website 'Appendix G' section 3.62.
How does it impact on the future of Kurnell?
These contaminants will not be appropriately remediated and will increase water run off into the Internationally protected 'RAMSAR' site 'Towra Point Nature Reserve' - which is home to a large proportion of critically endangered species of flora & fauna.
What does it have to do with the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and future Kurnell Energy & Industry precinct (KEIP)?
The capped land is the proposed site of the Battery Energy Storage Systems & proposed Enegry & Industry Precinct and referred to as 'redundant land' in AMPOL distributed. 'Community Updates'.
