Save Kota from an unjust hearing

The Issue

In Michigan, on our 25-acre farm dedicated to the rehabilitation of wildlife, we face another unfair challenge from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The Attorney General's attorney, Jaclyn Levine, has planned a hearing on January 26 to revoke our wildlife rehab permit based on two of three charges that have already been addressed by Judge Pulter. This relentless pursuit against us highlights a misdirection of focus and resources, ignoring more pressing issues of poaching and illegal activities harming our beloved wildlife.

At the heart of our battle is Kota, a coyote that is legally housed under our USDA license. Kota represents a livelihood, serving as an educational ambassador and a symbol of the good work we strive to do. Furthermore, we are accused of having food accessible to wild deer on our farm—an action that is entirely within legal limits, allowing up to two gallons of food daily. Moreover, our effort to rehab injured fawns past October 1 was not bound by any existing law.

This situation is not only emotionally heartbreaking but also deeply frustrating. It is a tragic irony that instead of using their power to combat considerable threats to wildlife, the DNR is exerting energy to undermine a compassionate rehabilitation effort. The potential revocation of our permit would not only jeopardize the lives of over 60 innocent creatures but also cripple an organization built on love and care for Michigan's wildlife.

We implore the public to rally behind us to save Kota and the countless other animals who rely on our sanctuary. Together, let us send a clear message to the DNR: redirect your efforts where they are truly needed. Support us in highlighting and addressing the actual threats to wildlife in Michigan.

Join us in sending a message that healing and rehabilitation are worthy causes deserving of defense. Sign this petition to protect Kota and the integrity of wildlife rehabilitation in Michigan. Your voices matter, and with your support, we can shine a spotlight on this issue and inspire change for the betterment of our wildlife and community. Stand with us and make a difference today.

SAVE KOTA

The Attorney General attorney Jaclyn Levine who represents the DNR has  once again scheduled a hearing Jan 26 to revoke our wildlife rehab permit on 2 of 3 of the same charges judge Pulter already ruled on.

1. Having Kota the coyote that is legally under our USDA license

2. Having food  out on our 25 acre farm wild deer can access, while it is legal to have 2 gallons of food out daily now, so clearly not a criminal issue!

3. Rehabbing injured fawns past oct 1 when there was no law prohibiting it previously. They have  since changed the law .

This process has and will cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands and will cost the 60 wildlife in our care their lives , including Kota the coyote who has lived here since 2018 if
they were to win. If you could see the amount of ridiculous paperwork and time that goes into this process that the DNR and Attorney General has wasted everybody’s time and money on , you would be appalled.  Please reach out to the DNR, attorney General and Governor Whitmer to stop the continued harassment and attack on non profits who offer free services to our community and are needed!

Be the voice for the animals  who have none. THEIR LIVES DEPEND ON YOU!
