Save Kennington Skatebowl from the cuts!

Save Kennington Skatebowl from the cuts!
The Issue
Save Kenny – Calling all skateboarders and fans of Kennington Park
We have great news! The longstanding project to reopen the iconic and popular 1970s skatebowl, known as Kenny, has been saved!
After abandoning the project in 2025, Lambeth Council voted on March 4th to set aside funds to restore the skatebowl.
We are the Friends of Kennington Park (FoKP), and we want to thank everyone who signed this petition and supported our campaign – we couldn’t have done it without your help!
- The plan is to fully restore the iconic 1970s bowl, clearing the bushes around it to bring it back into the park. To secure funding for the bowl, FoKP agreed to move money across from other development projects.
- Work to make the project a reality had been going on for well over a year when it was halted last year.
- Lots of public money had already been spent. If the restoration didn’t happen, all that money would have been wasted. And the skatebowl would have been left as an unsafe, decaying eyesore.
- Restoring it will create an attractive space, opening up the area, bringing it into the park, creating a great leisure space. Removing the skatebowl would have cost a lot of money and left an empty space.
Visit our website www.kenningtonpark.org to find out more about FoKP.
Why not support our work by joining us? It’s just £6 per year (£10 for a household). You’ll get regular updates on the progress of the skatebowl renovation, and hear about events coming up in the park.
