With the help of a great press release and very hardy Quaker alums and supporters, we got the attention of all the local Lansing TV stations, our public radio station (shout out to WKAR!), our local daily paper, and the weekly arts and culture paper with our picket on Thursday, February 26.

The coverage was well received by alums and community and prompted more signatures to our petition. It seems the University of Michigan Health-Sparrow folks were surprised that we responded with a picket within 24 hours of our learning they had submitted their request for a demolition permit to the mayor's office. They released their building plans about 48 hours later to the Mayor and the media.

We'd really prefer to be allies, not adversaries. We continue to hope they will engage in a collaborative conversation with us. Meanwhile, we have more events in the works.
