We demand that the City of Harvey and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District:

  1.       find a way to reuse and preserve the historic Ascension-St. Susanna campus at 153rd and Myrtle. These buildings tell the story of more than 100 years of Harvey families, and the craftsmanship found therein can NEVER be duplicated.

2.       Use an alternate site for a retention pond that allows Myrtle residents to STAY IN THEIR HOMES.  If demolished, this would not only destroy more Harvey history, but unnecessarily displace current residents for a flood relief project that the mayor decided to put where these people live!

NO MORE DEMOLITIONS! Harvey has lost enough historic buildings, and NO residents should be required to move for a retention pond given all the vacant lots already in the downtown.  No more excuses. Do right by Harvey and its residents!
