The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is proposing to abolish the Division of Higgins, a move that threatens the vibrant and engaged community of the Stonnington Council area. 

Dividing Stonnington into five different electorates will disrupt local community groups, making it harder for them to advocate for support at the federal level. This division creates confusion and weakens the collective voice of the residents.

The Division of Higgins has been represented by notable leaders such as Prime Ministers Harold Holt and John Gorton, Treasurer Peter Costello, and Minister Kelly O’Dwyer. Preserving Higgins honors its historical and political legacy.
