SAD NEWS,  the demolition of 115, 117, 119 Holt Ave has started. Standing since 1907, beautiful, robust, elegant Federation houses destroyed in just one day.

We need to keep asking the NSW Minister for Heritage, Penny Sharpe, why she ignored the Cremorne community and the heritage report findings which identified the houses as part of a group of six:

The Holt Avenue group (115-123 Holt Avenue) meets the threshold for cultural significance under historic, associative, aesthetic, rarity and representative values, as a rare group of Federation Bungalows constructed as part of a speculative housing development in Cremorne.

Why is Minister Sharpe not protecting heritage?  Her own Department's website says it all:
 
"Heritage includes the places, objects and stories that we have inherited from the past and want to protect for future generations. It gives us a sense of our history and provides meaningful insights into how earlier generations lived and developed. Heritage that is destroyed is lost forever. Her actions in removing the heritage protection is why these houses were destroyed. 

On the same day the destruction started, residents started receiving notification of the Planning Proposal (PP 5/23) is on public exhibition.  You can still help save the remaining 3 houses so please respond to Council's call for public comments.

I would be interested to see the buildings that Minister Sharpe has granted Heritage protection to since she has taken office.
