National Grid pylons planning application expected soon

The planning application from National Grid is expected soon - to build a line of pylons well over 100 miles long through the countryside of East Anglia - each pylon over 160 ft high.

The 300 year old Oak tree "Henry" in Rivenhall parish, Essex, stands directly on the proposed line of the pylons and the construction haul road that will cut a swathe through the countryside.

There is still time for National Grid to amend its plans to avoid Henry and the other trees near it - a group of Beech and Oaks each well over 100 years old which support many species of wildlife including bats and owls. 

This photo was taken today - Henry standing in the evening spring sunshine. If National Grid do the right thing, Henry could see hundreds more springs to come.
