Thanks to all for your support - we are hoping to get to at least 2,000 signatures ahead of the expected planning application from National Grid for 50 metre high pylons all the way through the East Anglian countryside from Norwich to Tilbury.

Henry the Oak tree has been a feature of the local landscape in Rivenhall for centuries and growing near a local road it is seen by many people every day as they pass by.

And Henry has also been there for all that time as part of the rural night time environment - currently the brightest planet in the sky, Venus, sits above Henry in the evening twilight, as shown in the photo.

As well as this petition, requests are being made to the local council (Braintree DC) to put a protection order on Henry, all in the hope that National Grid can be persuaded to think again. Offshoring the grid cables would be the best outcome, but if they do build pylons, or go underground with the cables, it would only involve a small change in the route to Save Henry.
