We, the concerned citizens of Greece, NY, strongly urge our local authorities to vote "no" on the proposed development plans for two parcels within our beloved community. The 2 sites:

Corner of Flynn Road and Latta Road: proposal to rezone parcel from Single Family Residential to 160 units of Planned Residential - rental units.

3490 & 3500 Latta Road: 0.4 mile down the road from the other proposed development site will, if approved, develop 240 rental patio and townhomes. The Latta Road development will require clear cutting 60 acres of wooded land.

This petition aims to protect the unique character and natural beauty of Greece neighborhoods while protecting wildlife and green space.

1. Environmental Impact:
The proposed development threatens our local ecosystem and wildlife habitats. The destruction of green spaces will lead to increased pollution levels, loss of biodiversity, and irreversible damage to our delicate ecosystems. Drainage will be problematic. We must prioritize sustainable growth that respects and preserves nature. We have to protect our watershed and wildlife. 

2. Traffic Congestion:
Greece is already grappling with traffic congestion issues on major roads during peak hours. The addition of more residential or commercial units without adequate infrastructure improvements will exacerbate this problem further. Our roads need upgrades before any new developments can be considered.

3. Overburdened Schools:
Adding more housing units without proper planning for educational facilities will strain resources and can negatively impact the quality of education provided.

4. Property Values:
Adding additional rental units to a neighborhood or increasing its neighborhood share at the expense of single-family owner-occupied homes lowers home values. Uncontrolled development often leads to decreased property values for homeowners in affected areas due to increased supply surpassing demand levels in the real estate market.

We, the concerned citizens of Greece, NY, ask our local authorities to prioritize responsible and sustainable development that aligns with the best interests of our community.
