Save Geraghty’s Shop & Family Home :

We as a family are shocked to discover that the plans were submitted to see if it is feasible to seek funding to demolish our shop and home “Geraghty’s” this was without our knowledge or our consent. We are based in the North West of Ireland in the tourist town of Carrick on Shannon in Co. Leitrim. Our shop has a deep tradition of trade with artists, musicians, antique collectors, tourist's, and our loyal local customers.   

We want it known that we did NOT and do NOT give our consent to these plans from the Leitrim County Council. We OBJECT to any proposals on our behalf which involves our property. Any person stating that we the “Geraghty’s” have no objections to these plans are fraudulently misrepresenting. 

To summarise the history of this building which is steeped in bygone eras. The front of the building has a vintage art deco style mosaic mid-century modernism shop face. The original features are preserved with love and care. The building dates to 16th and 17th century Carrick on Shannon, it was the original part of the town center of the historical Main Street.

We believe the plans as they stand are misleading the general public and are not of any benefit to the community.
