Save Frogmore Court: Support care leavers in Maidenhead
The Issue
I cannot overstate what Frogmore Court has meant to me and many young people like myself. I lost my mum in January, and if it weren’t for the kindness and support of the staff at Frogmore Court, I would have been homeless. Living here has given me more than just shelter; it has given me hope, guidance, and a community. The workers here are truly passionate about helping us to stand on our own, to secure jobs, and ultimately to find our own homes.
Frogmore Court, a Young Persons Service in Maidenhead, has been serving individuals like me since 1999. Many of us are care leavers, navigating the complexities of life with little to no family support. Unlike others who have familial guidance, we rely heavily on the wisdom and compassion offered to us at Frogmore Court.
Recently, we received the devastating news that the local council plans to terminate the contract for Frogmore Court's services by August. For the young people living here, this decision is catastrophic. It threatens to uproot our lives, forcing us into uncertainty and risk at a pivotal moment when we are just starting to build our futures.
Statistics and government reports can often reduce people to mere numbers, but our stories are more than data. The success stories emerging from Frogmore Court are living proof of the difference it makes. Many former residents have gone on to excel in their careers and live independently, all thanks to the environment provided here.
We urgently need your help to halt this decision by the council. By signing this petition, you are advocating for the continuation of vital support for young care leavers in Maidenhead. You are sending a clear message to the council that services like Frogmore Court are not expendable but essential for the future and wellbeing of our youth.
Please join us in our fight to save Frogmore Court, a beacon of hope and stability for those who have no place else to turn. Sign the petition and stand with us, demonstrating solidarity and support. Together, we can make a difference and help secure a safe future for young people in our community.
