Nestled within the natural beauty of Crosslands, NSW, is a place of profound importance and value to all our communities — the Frank Windeyer Memorial Scout Camp. Since 1937, this Scout Camp has been an oasis for young people from our local communities to come together and learn invaluable life skills and forge lifelong friendships. All while having fun! Today, this well used and loved Scout Camp faces a very uncertain future as Scouts NSW looks to sell it.

The camp is more than just a piece of land; it embodies the meaning of Scouting and at times the sacrifices people make for us. One such person was Frank Windeyer. Who came through scouting and who gave his life in World War II. The scout camp was named after him, preserving not just his memory, but the values he had learned through Scouting. Losing this Scout Camp would not only erase the tangible connection to Frank Windeyer and his family, but also deprive our future generations of the enriching experiences that cannot be substituted by any other means.

The Frank Windeyer Memorial Scout Camp has been pivotal in the development of countless young people. Even of us adults! Offering adventurous programs that foster leadership, resilience, and teamwork. The very attributes essential to building strong and cohesive communities - for today and into the future.

Unfortunately, due to financial pressures, Scouts NSW is now selling this irreplaceable site. While it's crucial to understand the financial struggles of Scouts NSW, the Frank Windeyer Memorial Scout Camp itself breaks even. Through fundraising - and the countless thousands of volunteer hours given gladly over these many years.

We urge Scouts NSW to re-consider the broader repercussions of their decision. The sale not only affects the immediate scouting community and our young people, but also diminishes the communal ties that this camp has fostered over many years.
