Save Forth Valley College's Alloa Campus
The Issue
OUR ALLOA CAMPUS IS UNDER THREAT
Staff who work at Forth Valley College's Alloa Campus see, every single day, the life-changing difference this college makes to learners, families, and our wider Clackmannanshire community.
This campus supports vulnerable learners, carers, working adults, and people trying to rebuild their lives. In one of Scotland’s areas of deepest deprivation, it offers hope, opportunity, and a future. And now, thanks to chronic underfunding by the Scottish Government, it’s facing devastation.
The Forth Valley region has seen an unprecedented amount of job losses recently with large long standing companies like Ineos and Alexander Dennis announcing job losses, alongside newly opened and struggling businesses like the Rosebank Distillery. Forth Valley College is ideally placed to re-train those made redundant, and helping the economy to bounce back – this will be much more difficult with a smaller estate
Let’s be clear:
- This is NOT mismanagement.
- This is NOT poor planning.
- This is the direct result of 18 years of cuts to Scotland’s college sector.
Further Education is the beating heart of our communities. Colleges like ours are not just buildings – they’re community anchors, skills engines, and lifelines. And they are being dismantled.
The Scottish Government must take responsibility. They have failed to protect education in our communities.
The Scottish Government’s key policy is lifting children out of poverty, but how does underfunding Colleges deliver this??
We're calling on our MPs, MSPs and local councillors: come to Alloa Campus. See the work we do. Meet the people whose lives could be shattered. Step in and facilitate a sustainable solution.
This isn’t just about Alloa – this is happening across Scotland. The funding model in FE is broken and our politicians need to fix it.
· Help us fight back. Sign and share this petition. Make noise.
It’s an election year. They’re listening. Let’s make sure they hear us loud and clear. And if you haven’t already done so, write to your politicians here - https://www.writetothem.com
