Dear friends,

Many of you have placed your faith and hope in me regarding the battle to return Grassdale to the public trust.  Therefore, I wanted to share with you that on January 17, 2023 my colleague from Fight DE Corruption, Jack Guerin, and I filed a lawsuit with the Delaware Court of Chancery to try to do just that.  I take very seriously the trust and confidence you placed in me and just wanted to let you know that I have, and will, see this thing through to the end.  I will keep you updated on the progress of our case, but win or lose, some really great things have resulted from this challenge we’ve taken on together. 

First and most importantly, our community came together in an unbelievably wonderful way, magical really, to fight for what we believe is right.  Strangers, now friends, from Delaware City and neighboring cities and states all reached out in support and offered help and advice that kept this crusade alive.  I can’t tell you how much I appreciate each and every one of you and how blessed I feel to have met you.  Second, many policies have been updated and/or implemented to safeguard against this sort of thing happening again.  That’s a huge win for everyone.  Third, I was able to share some of the lessons we learned from the sale of Grassdale with other communities battling the very same scenarios.  In one such case, a lovely gentleman from Connecticut found me on social media and asked for advice to challenge Blue Water Development’s proposal to build an RV Park in his hometown.  Even though the lessons we learned in our case came too late to stop the sale/development in Delaware City, I am happy to say that in Preston CT, they were able to use some of the advice given and are currently winning their battle!  

This just goes to show that when we come together, united in a just cause, the voice of The People cannot be ignored, and I sincerely thank you for that!  ~erica
