The Issue

For many years, as residents and individuals with community ties, we've been investing our money, our time, and our sweat into Food for the Soul Community Farm. WE have built healthy soil and installed fencing to protect the growing space.

The farm is a source of nourishment and a beacon of hope and inspiration, offering a peaceful refuge amidst the busy city landscape. When we stand within the serene confines of the farm, we see what our community's creative energy and shared effort can create.

Unfortunately, the existence of our beloved community farm is now threatened! This sanctuary full of greenery and growth risks being swallowed up and destroyed for housing development by Manchester Citizens Council. While we share concerns about rising housing prices, we know there are other alternative lots where housing could be developed.

This farm is not just about providing food. The farm also promotes environmental sustainability and helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the area brought by the railroad that runs right through our community. Saving this farm means preserving our community’s health, vibrancy, and future.

The property is currently owned by the City and the path to ownership is the Landbank. We are asking the City and the Landbank to ensure the farm is protected permanently.

We cannot let our years of nurturing this space go in vain! Stand up to protect Food for the Soul Community Farm. Make the voice of our community echo in the chambers of decision-makers.

Sign our petition and help us secure the future of our farm!
