Public Consultation
At the Council meeting on 18 July 2017, East Herts Council resolved that a "public consultation and further investigation of the options for Fanshawe Pool and Gym" should be carried out and "a report presented in October 2017”. This is what the Council have issued as that public consultation: https://www.eastherts.gov.uk/consultations.
The consultation is unsatisfactory in several important respects and for this reason the Club is likely to challenge any ultimate decision by the Council in October (or later) if that decision is to cease funding the pool. However, we have decided to respond nonetheless and would urge as many people as possible to do likewise.
Before responding to the consultation, please take a look at the response of the Club committee, which we have put on the WSC website: https://www.waresc.org.uk/. As we say on our website, if you agree with points we have made in our response, please make this clear in your response – if necessary cross-referring to our response – as well as making any other points you have.
We understand that the consultation period is due to end on 28 September. So please respond now or at least as soon as you can to ensure that you don’t miss this deadline.
The future of the Club, as well as everyone’s continued benefit and enjoyment from using Fanshawe Pool, depends on what happens with the funding situation. It is, therefore, really important that you respond to this consultation.
Thank you.
Ware Swimming Club.
