My name is Khya, and I’m a dedicated student at Exploration High School, a place that has not only shaped my academic journey but has also impacted my life beyond measure. For me and many of my fellow students, the heart and soul of our school are embodied in seven invaluable teachers whose contracts were not renewed this year. These staff members who didn't get a contract renewal are Alycia (Dean), Ro (11/12 Science), Enno ( ELL), Abby (Art), Liz (Special Education), Clarisa (Paraprofessional), and Jeff (Director of Operations), who did not receive a proper contract that stated his renewal or not. 

Our new principal, Mary, has made sweeping changes that, unfortunately, have dismantled the very fabric of our beloved school culture. Under her leadership, she has made decisions that prioritize her vision over the well-being of the students and the community we cherish. This has been most evident in the decision not to renew the contracts of these seven vital staff members. 

These teachers are more than just educators; they are mentors and pillars of our community. They have been instrumental in fostering a learning environment that is both academically challenging and emotionally nurturing. Their absence would not only deteriorate the quality of education but also strip away the unique culture that Exploration High School has nurtured over the years.

We, the students of Exploration High, are rallying together to urge our school administration to reconsider this and reinstate the contracts of these seven teachers. Our school’s identity and success are at stake, and retaining these staff members is crucial to preserving the community and culture we hold dear.

We urge Mary and our school board to listen to the voices of the students for once and recognize the IRREPLACEABLE value these staff members bring to our school.
