Aloha,
Im writing from Hawai'i where we are working to defend endangered sharks like the scalloped hammerhead and oceanic whitetip shark. Both of these species are benefitting from blanket protection under the ESA, and critical habitat designation.
Yesterday after diving in Kona searching for sharks, I filmed two Hawaiian Monk Seals on the beach. These seals live only in Hawai'i and number less than 1400 individuals. They are critically endangered and without protection under the ESA and the Sanctuaries Act currently under threat, these seals could go extinct in our life time.
Today I wrote another installment of our Voices of Extinction campaign on sea otters, whales and sharks, and will write one tomorrow on the ʻīlio holo i ka uaua, which means "dog that runs in rough water."
Please share our Voices blogs and share our petition and letter to Doug Burgum and the USFWS before the public comment ends December 22.
We will be lobbying the Congress in 2026. Please share this campaign and thank you for our support!
