Save DV2024 Selectees from Burma

The Issue

The purpose of this letter is to advocate for an increase in the number of DV winners from Asia region who are granted visas soon as possible. According to the report from the KCC, there is a significantly lower number of people from Asia included in the Visa Bulletin for the 2024 DV program. This means that Myanmar's DV lottery winners have a reduced chance of going to the United States. Therefore, we are requesting that more people from the Asia region be included in the Visa Bulletin.

One important fact to consider is the volatile situation in Burma, with ongoing political unrest and military coups that threaten the safety and future of its citizens. Among those affected are the DV2024 selectees, who are struggling to survive in a war zone. Furthermore, they are desperate to escape from Burma, especially for the sake of their children future.

Historically, the U.S. State Department has made exceptions for applicants facing extraordinary circumstances, such as natural disasters or civil unrest. Given the current situation in Myanmar and considering the DV 2024 winners, we have the following demands:

1. Requesting more opportunities for gaining a Visa Bulletin from the Asia region.
2. Urging the assignment of more consular officers to the U.S. Embassy in Myanmar to expedite the visa application process.
