Did you know that if we allow the Drury Lane Shops to be demolished, the Iconic Drury Wishing Well will also be destroyed!

This historic Well was built in the 1800's and was located beside the Drury Railway Hotel which burned to the ground in 1925. The Farmer Hotel was the original Hotel that stood on this ground and there is a picture of these two hotels above the Wishing Well. The picture of the Farmer Hotel was taken in 1890.

If you look closely at the Railway Hotel photo you will see a horse tethered to the right of the hotel that is where the Drury Well was located.

You can find the Drury Wishing Well inside the Drury Butcher shop, Drury Meats. The coins in the Wishing Well are collected up and donated to local schools and charities. 

It would be a wretched day if Drury lost the Drury Lane Shops and this iconic Well, a communal source of charity funds for the community and surrounds.

 Why demolish all these small businesses and the historic Drury Wishing Well when there is a perfectly viable option to widen Waihoehoe road and build an overbridge on land on the South side of the road, which includes unused wasteland. They just plan to plant up this wasteland in trees rather than plan to use that land to widen the road and create the overbridge?  Why?
