The Issue

Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC) has been a cornerstone of our community and an iconic venue that has hosted countless memorable events. It's more than just a location; it's a vibrant hub where people from all walks of life gather to celebrate their shared passions. Whether it’s the heart-thumping beats of a music concert, the thrill of live sports, or the cultural enrichment from arts showcases, DLVEC provides a space for it all. It's a place that fosters connection and unity, offering an escape from the daily grind and a chance to create cherished memories with friends and loved ones.

Unfortunately, our beloved DLVEC is under threat. This venue, which has brought joy and unity to thousands, is facing challenges that jeopardize its future operations. The potential loss of DLVEC would not only deprive Las Vegas of one of its key cultural and entertainment centers but also impact the local economy that thrives on its events. The local businesses and hospitality sectors rely heavily on the influx of visitors who come to experience the spectacular events hosted at DLVEC.

We are calling on local authorities and key stakeholders to recognize the irreplaceable role that DLVEC plays in our community. We urge them to take immediate, decisive action to secure its future. This could involve allocating necessary funding, implementing strategic management plans, and engaging with community leaders to explore sustainable solutions.

The loss of DLVEC would be a significant blow to the cultural and social fabric of Las Vegas. It is a venue that encapsulates the spirit of our city—dynamic, welcoming, and full of life. Let us stand together to ensure that the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center continues to operate and flourish for generations to come.

The Decision Makers

Shelley Berkley
Las Vegas City Mayor
Responded
The event center is privately owned, and the owner has a right to do what he wants with his property as long as the owner complies with the law. Downtown Las Vegas is in need of additional parking. If this change from an events center to a parking lot helps to ease the parking shortage, I would not oppose it, nor do I have the power to do so
