After our petition reached more than 2,000 signatures and the number of objections on the Westminster planning portal passed 160, it was announced that this planning application will not be decided until June at the earliest.
We believe that an important consideration has been the disclosure of vital information about the transport infrastructure, the water and sewage capacity of the site, and the threat to protected bats who nest and forage at Dolphin Square.
Tfl stated on the planning portal last month that they were concerned about the transport infrastructure for the development and called for more information about its scale and the exact number of apartments. They said they could not approve the scheme as it stood.
Thames Water reported that there was insufficient water supply for the development and that the existing sewage capacity was inadequate. They called for further investigations. Dolphin Square currently enjoys its own water supply from its own artesian wells which will be destroyed if the development goes ahead.
And the existence of a thriving bat colony on the site, a European protected species, does not appear to have been properly disclosed in the planning application and English Nature are calling for further information. A leading court case about bats led to a planning consent being withdrawn after a building had been demolished and critics of the Dolphin Square development plans fear that the same might happen in Pimlico.
