Save Dermal Lights in Alaska Esthetician Curriculum and Services!
The Issue
As an Alaskan esthetician, I am deeply concerned about the proposed changes in the regulations of the Board of Barbers and Hairdressers, specifically 12 AAC 09.162 & 12 AAC 09.163. These changes threaten to remove Dermal Lights (Light Therapy) from the required curriculum and allowable services for estheticians in Alaska.
Dermal Lights have been an integral part of our training as estheticians, allowing us to provide effective treatments for various skin conditions such as acne, hyperpigmentation, and aging signs. This non-invasive therapy has proven to be highly beneficial for countless clients who seek professional skincare solutions.
The proposed change will not only impact our ability to offer comprehensive services but also have a negative effect on businesses that have built their reputation by providing Dermal Light treatments. Many estheticians rely on these services as a significant source of income, which could be severely impacted if this change is implemented.
Furthermore, removing Dermal Lights from the curriculum would deprive future estheticians of valuable knowledge and skills needed to excel in their profession. By eliminating this essential component from their education, we risk compromising the quality of skincare services provided across Alaska.
To support our cause and contest these proposed changes effectively, it is crucial that we present accurate facts and statistics regarding the benefits of Dermal Light therapy:
1. According to a study published in The Journal of Clinical Aesthetic Dermatology (2016), light therapy has shown significant improvements in acne severity among patients.
2. The American Academy of Dermatology acknowledges light therapy as an effective treatment option for various skin conditions.
3. Numerous reputable skincare clinics and spas across Alaska offered Dermal Light treatments with positive client testimonials attesting to its effectiveness.
4. There are many other businesses throughout Alaska that offer light therapy in their tanning salons and athletic gyms.
We urge you all fellow Alaskans who value accessible and comprehensive skincare services to join us in signing this petition. Let us stand together and request the Board of Barbers and Hairdressers to reconsider their proposed changes, ensuring that Dermal Lights remain an essential part of the esthetician curriculum and allowable services in Alaska.
By signing this petition, we are not only supporting our fellow estheticians but also advocating for the rights of clients who rely on these services to maintain healthy skin. Together, we can make a difference and preserve the quality of skincare services in our great state.
