Save Dartington Summer School, a Beacon of Music Education

Save Dartington Summer School, a Beacon of Music Education
The Issue
Today, an announcement was made concerning the future of Dartington Summer School. All who have attended the Summer School recognise what an inspirational space for music education it is, attracting students and artists from across the globe. The friendships and professional relationships made remain invaluable.
For 75 years, this unique place has contributed significantly to the musical life and employment of musicians. Stravinsky and Hindemith, Barenboim and Schiff, Diego Masson and Neville Marriner, Judith Weir and Nico Muhly, the Amadeus, Brodsky and Kronos Quartets all taught or played there. Peter Maxwell Davies, Gavin Henderson, John Woolrich, Joanna MacGregor and Sara Mohr-Pietsch have served as Artistic Directors bringing new life to each year of the Festival.
Due to financial problems experienced by the Estate, Dartington Summer School is facing a serious threat to its existence. Next year's programme has been put on hold; the Artistic Director and team have been forced to leave their positions.
This isn't just about preserving a beloved institution; it's about safeguarding opportunities for future generations of musicians who could benefit immensely from what Dartington offers.
We must act now to ensure that this world-renowned beacon of music education continues its important work. Your signature can make a difference in showing support for Dartington Summer School and helping secure its future. Please sign and share this petition today!
With your support we will be calling on Robert Fedder (CEO) and Lord David Triesman (Trust Chair) to reconsider this devastating and damaging decision on the future of Dartington Summer School that will have a long-term impact on music education in the country.
