Save Creative Dramatics For JCMS!

The Issue

Creative dramatics is not just another class. It’s a whole community. Creative dramatics has a special kind of community from what I have seen and had heard about. The class seems to have such a strong community with the closeness and less judgmental behavior they have. Most of the time students will have their best friend in that class.   I am not personally in the creative dramatics class. However I have many friends who are in the class, and they all express their love for the class. This class is a one of a kind class that Jackson Creek also has no other class like this.

One of the reasons for that is their teacher. The teacher is an amazing teacher, he is always friendly and inviting. He isn’t afraid to joke with students which helps the students connect to him. Therefore removing the class means a lot of students will be upsetted by this.  Students at Jackson Creek want him to stay there as a teacher and they want his class to stay with him. I have heard that he fought for his class to be class for three years and now that it is, you want to take it away from him?

Destroying something that someone worked so hard for, that’s like kicking a kid’s sand castle. For anyone who is a parent or knows a child that they care about deeply imagine a person destroying their sand castle. The child’s reaction is just pure sadness with a broken heart. That is what you will be doing to him, he has put work and passion into his career and he deserves the class. This is his job that he uses to provide for his family. His daughter goes to this school, imagining having to tell his daughter that. Removing creative dramatics isn’t just a simple cut, you have to think about the people in it. You will be having students lose passion and a man lose his job that he uses to provide for his family.

Cutting the class also removes a club. You would be removing the drama club. Drama club is highly sought after by students for multiple reasons. It’s the only club that Jackson Creek where students can explore acting. Drama club is highly non judgmental which is so rare to come by in middle school.

With all of this, don’t cut the class. The student body cares about it very deeply so it’s unfair to everyone involved. Also is there even a fully reasonable point to cutting? From my perspective no. So sign the petition to keep the class!
