On January 9th, 2023 at 6 p.m. Laveen 140 LLC. hosted their meeting at the Southern Ridge Golf Course Clubhouse. Long story short, as anticipated “New Golf Course Owner” is actually a development company and presented his plans to build apartment buildings, possibly townhouses and smaller houses around the 140 acres golf course land..

Laveen 140 LLC. talked about building 1,000 units combined. They talked about turning portions of the golf course land into recreational, open space including such amenities as a basketball court, pickle ball courts, 2 dog parks, walking and biking paths, Ramada’s for picnic areas, a community swimming pool all residences may have access and various other ideas they presented.

The caveat is Laveen 140 LLC. cannot guarantee what plans and ideas they are presenting will be the actual building plans executed. Laveen 140 LLC. said they acquired the Southern Ridge Golf Course in June 2022. As many of us know since June 2022 not much has changed with the golf course and the golf course land looks horrible.

Laveen 140, LLC. said they are not a golf course developer/operator. Their plans are to develop the golf course land which is approximately 140 acres and sell the land to residential builders. The architect working with Laveen 140 LLC. said he worked on the Desert Ridge development project in North Phoenix, Arizona.

Cottonfields Community Homeowners left the meeting knowing they now have a battle on their hands. Many of the Cottonfields Community Homeowners walked out before the meeting was finished. One Cottonfields Community Homeowner who owns 7 homes in the Cottonfields Community said he will be contacting his attorney.

We prefer to see an actual golf course owner purchase the golf course and reopen the golf course. We will continue to monitor the situation as it develops.
