Dear supporters,
I’m grateful to share an important update about Cordelia, the Copper European Beech tree many of you signed the petition to protect.
Cordelia has been granted a one-year reprieve. The plan to remove her has been paused, giving us time to observe how she does over the coming year.
While this is not yet a permanent victory, it is a meaningful step forward—and I consider it a win. Your signatures, messages, and support helped bring attention to her situation and encouraged a more thoughtful approach.
This pause allows time for:
•Continued observation of Cordelia’s health and vitality
•Independent professional assessment
•Exploration of preservation and care options
In other words, time for the tree to show us what she can do.
Trees operate on a different timeline than we do, and a year gives us the opportunity to see signs of recovery and resilience that might otherwise have been missed.
I want to sincerely thank everyone who signed, shared the petition, and spoke up for Cordelia. Community advocacy made a real difference here. 💚
This isn’t the end of the story—we’ll continue monitoring her progress and advocating for her long-term protection. I’ll be sure to share updates along the way.
For now, let’s celebrate this moment: Cordelia is still standing. 🌳
With gratitude and hope,
Zanna ◡̈
