The Issue

As a business owner on Cliff Rd, Newquay, we have traded successfully for 20 years, I have witnessed incredible growth and transformation in our local community. Over the last decade, Cliff Rd has self-regenerated into one of the busiest and most vibrant areas in Newquay, as evidenced by Mastercard data. The traders here rely heavily on the convenience and accessibility provided by the 19 free parking spaces available to our customers.

The proposal to remove these vital parking spaces to make way for a cycle lane is threatening the very fabric of our community and the success of our high street. With free parking, customers can easily and safely access the diverse range of stores and services, encouraging local shopping and keeping business revenue within our town, rather than diverting funds to online giants like Amazon.

Cliff Rd’s prosperity is not just seasonal; it thrives 52 weeks a year.

Furthermore, should this removal proceed and prove unsuccessful, there will be no funds to put it back. This is permanent.

Cornwall councils own survey showed 765 cars parked here in a 48hr period.

This is huge.

Oppose the removal of the free parking on Cliff Rd, and help secure the livelihoods of local business owners.

Please sign this petition to stop this detrimental change and safeguard our local economy for future generations.
