Save Chesterfield Visitor Information Centre

The Issue

The Cabinet of Chesterfield Borough Council is meeting on 14 November 2023.  It will consider the General Fund Budget Strategy Implementation Plan. The full agenda can be viewed here:  https://chesterfield.moderngov.co.uk/documents/g6465/Public%20reports%20pack%2014th-Nov-2023%2010.30%20Cabinet.pdf?T=10

In this plan there is a proposal to transform the Visitor Information Centre service to digital delivery and to review the future use of the VIC building

We are not yet sure what digital delivery will consist of and what impact it will have on customers, or what the use of the Visitor Information Centre will be.

Many of the customers of the VIC are vulnerable or unable to access services digitally, so value the face to face service they receive.  The general feedback from customers is that this is a great asset to the community and they are lucky to have face to face provision.  The loss of the service would also have a detrimental effect on the local businesses to which they signpost visitors. The VIC also advertises and sells tickets for local events.

We hope that by creating this petition we will be able to show the value of the VIC services amongst the community and in turn save the Visitor Information Centre.

We value and appreciate your support.
