Save Our Park
May 26, 2017
The goal of our petition was to get Tunbridge Wells Borough Council to come clean on the facts of the civic complex and theatre. It's been like getting blood from a stone. As you all know there are a number of glaring omissions from the council's public consultation, for example on the cost and how it'll be paid for (would you prefer tax increases or further cuts to services?), the impact on the park (recent conversations indicate that the beloved park cafe will close and the toilets may not be replaced - this comes in addition to the impact from loss of trees, casting of long shadows and overlooking), what will happen to the existing town hall and theatre and the impact of lost car parking during the many years of construction The influential Friends of Calverley Grounds was able to share its side of the story in an excellent article by the Times of Tunbridge Wells. Please follow the link to read it to see that we're not alone in recognising the flaws in the council's plans. Then please share our petition. We've been a silent majority for too long. It's time the council understood the weight of opposition to this project. Thank you for signing to help save Calverley Grounds and to save Tunbridge Wells!
