Save Butterscotch and her pack from becoming homeless!
The Issue
Petition against removal of dogs from Hall4
The dogs from Hall 4 are being removed from the hall to adjacent roads. This means that Butterscotch and her pack would become homeless. We urgently need your support to oppose this decision. We recognise the problems faced by the residents. However, removing dogs from their territory shouldn’t be the only solution.
We can improve the situation in Hall 4 and other residential areas by having the following measures in place:
1) Fully covered dustbins in corridors
2) Washroom dustbins fitted upwards
3) Fixing the feeding areas in the halls
4) Barring the feeding of dogs in the residential areas by imposing fines
The common problems faced by residents could be addressed by implementing this measures. The people who are scared of dogs, can equip themselves with water sprays to keep the dogs away from them.
The AWC is mandating relocation without having any meeting with the stakeholders. This has to change!
Removing the dogs from halls could lead many other problems such as vehicle chasing incidents on roads, accidents, etc. Also, with the winters approaching, these animals will not get access to shelter. Since this is a campus-wide issue, we need to find a sustainable solution including sensitisation of the campus residents that encourages responsible co-existence with all animals.
